People who confuse 'Chanukiah' and 'Menorah' (and I don't care if a Chanukiah is technically a 'menorah,' in the sense that it is a candelabra. They are not the same).
I know how you feel. But try to be understanding. Menorah's much easier than asking non-Hebrew speakers to pronounce Chanukiyah. That's the same case for the milder "shana tova" rather than "k'tivah v'chatimah tovah..."
Call it the price of assimilation--and if we're lucky, that will be the only price...
