In a cliche-saturated answer to your point about Unbroken Glass, Avraham, the sad truth is that in the blogosphere as in most spheres of real life, people have short memories, once you're gone, you're gone, fame is fleeting, people move on, nobody is irreplaceable... and that's just the way of the world. I expect one day it'll happen to us as well... sniff.
