What's going on in France?
Read Adloyada for a full set of options. The one she leans to -- the 'statist system' theory -- does have some merit, as the French social model has simply been failing for years, even as they cling to it and even fight for it (as seen through the EU) desperately. However, it would be more convincing if there were not riots going on at the same time, also driven by Muslims, in Denmark, Belgium, and a week ago, briefly, in Birmingham, UK. What's going on in France is not a uniquely 'French' problem and cannot be analysed through a uniquely 'French' prism.
